Vine Is Fine

Are you guys doing Vine yet? Damn, it’s fun. Imagine recording a six second animated gif with sound, time lapse, clips, whatever.

Sharing is easy too. Auto-post to Twitter or Facebook with the slide of a toggle. Embed through copy and paste into any web hosting account or blog, just like this. Find me, @rockhost.

Wicked Fiber Pre-Registration

Hey Larry(ville),

Take your sweet time with this, no hurry.

I don’t know if you heard or not, but something kind of cool is happening to the Internet in Lawrence, KS. It’s fiber. Google Fiber just launched in KC if that rings a bell. Anyway, Wicked Broadband (used to be LawFreeNet) is going to be offering 1 Gbps connections to residential homes. To compare, that’s equal to the bandwidth size of my Shoutcast servers in the datacenter racks. Besides the obvious upgrades the pipe can hold live HDTV. Hell, I could probably even hook up the Linux boxes on my desk with a static IP. I want Wicked Fiber.

Love,

Me

P.S. How’s that for kissing ass?

Uptime Server Monkey

Question (think Dwight Schrute’s tone), why does ROCKHOST.COM no longer offer phone support? The answer is simple, because, well, you were driving us crazy! *rimshot ;^) Hey-O! “Is this thing on?” Seriously though, our troubleshooting skills are much more efficient without a mild case of cellular A.D.D. The turnaround of a support ticket is pleasantly surprising during business hours. See for yourself. Register a profile. Submit a ticket.

Uptime is everything. During off peak hours I sleep with an iPhone on my nightstand. Our global server monitors check multiple services (HTTP, Email, DNS, FTP, MySQL, Ping) every sixty seconds. In the event of an outage the device is beeping, squelching, and vibrating like a doctor’s pager in the mid 1980s.

Morning, noon, or night…Rain, sleet, or snow…Come hell or high water, I’m your guy.
